Promotion chances rising for women in Japan
Change is coming in a culture typically resistant to including women in upper level management. Among the world’s leading economies, the IMF ranks Japan second to last in female workforce participation.

China: Last Words of 19 Tibetans Who Committed Self-Immolation
A triggering account of the suicide notes left by the Tibetans who light themselves on fire in protest of the extreme government repression in Tibet. “They don’t care about Tibetans and in order to let the world know about the real situation in Tibet, we have to radicalize our peaceful action, voice out Tibetan independence by lighting up our bodies.”

A man shoots a young girl who had an issue with his public urination.
In India, a 17 year old girl and her 40 year old mother were both shot by their neighbor, leaving the teen dead and the mother injured. There seems to be no history of dispute between the families. This incident was brought on when the two women told a man not to urinate near the gate to the community. He simply said “I’ll see you” and showed up at their door sometime later with a gun.

Obama’s visit to Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar

Can’t we report about two world leaders meeting without using words like “flirting” and “schmoozing”? It’s degrading to both of them.
